3 Apr 2008: One Aldwych Hotel, London![]() One Aldwych Hotel has been open a few years now and was one of the first hotels to think of having a TV screen in the bathroom. Apparently inspired by the creator missing an important news bulletin whilst having a shave in an LA hotel. The rooms are well designed, functional and designed to feel warm yet modern. They have all you would expect from a luxury hotel as far as facilities go. The hotel also have a beautiful indoor swimming pool and fitness area. This hotel has great public spaces. It's not an enormous hotel but the spaces have been stylishly designed to give a feeling of space and grandeur. The Lobby Bar has become a meeting place for business and pleasure and incidently is a good place to get a bite very late in the evening, as long as you are a hotel guest. Attached to the hotel is its very well known restaurant Axis - book ahead! Location, location, location. Really spectacular. Not for views necessarily, although I could see onto the roof of the theatre showing the Lion King! But you are very much smack, bang in the middle of Covent Garden. Locations don't really get any sweeter in London for mix of nightlife, theatres and shopping. Definitely worth a stay. Rates in the £200's although the hotel offers regular specials and packages.
